Canadian Juniors Win The Super Series Against The Russians (7 - 0 - 1)

It wasn't a sweep, but Canada's junior hockey stars finished dusting off their Russian counterparts Sunday with five power-play goals.

Kyle Alzner, Brandon Sutter and Zach Boychuk scored second-period power-play goals to lead undefeated Canada to a 6-1 victory over Russia and a seventh win in the eight-game Super Series between the two hockey powers.

Kyle Turris of the University of Wisconsin and the third over-all pick of the Phoenix Coyotes added two more power-play goals in the third period.


The former Tier 2 junior star of the Burnaby, B.C. Express finished the series with seven goals.

Colton Gillies completed the Canadian attack while Evgeny Dadanov ruined the shutout bid of Leland Irving, a 2006 draft of the Calgary Flames, at 17:20 of the third period.
